Portrait Of A Signature Technique
FROM A PIECE
一片から // Chrysanthemum & Lotus Motif
A single piece from an iron pipe transforms into a new shape through heat and internal pressure warping its shape.
The image of the vessel arises from that one piece.
The heat of the soldering process causes rippling distortions of the metal.
I have to avoid this rippling and distortion as much as possible by limiting the areas where solder is used.
It is the slits that arise from this feature of the technique that create the unique beauty of this series.
